DAO on Winning PDG Team – Ft. Pierce, FL
The Fort Pierce Housing Authority has awarded a continuing services contract to Powell Design Group (PDG). DAO is proud to contribute its expertise to the stellar design team. DAO and PDG have a long running design relationship in housing projects around Florida. Past projects included the Deltona Gardens HUD facility and the College Park Towers II senior living faclity in Orlando, Florida. We look forward to more great housing projects for all Floridians from PDG and DAO Consultants, Inc.

UCF Leadership Workshop Applauded Success
Ms. Solange Dao, P.E. lead a team of facilitators to teach freshmen, and sophomore engineering students effective communication skills. The workshop was supported by the Dean’s Office with Assistant Dean Reilly giving the programs opening welcome remarks. Dean Reilly underlined the importance UCF sees in developing new leaders the minute the step onto campus and applauded Tau Beta Pi for this innovative step to ensure the leaders are in the engineering department.
The Engineering Honor Society chapter of Tau Beta Pi invite Dean’s List students to participate in the 6-hr work shop focused on developing effective communication and conflict management skills. Students also learned about the high school outreach efforts of the honor society thru the MindSET program. A bonus was when a Brain Power seminar was presented during lunch by Ms. Solange Dao on how the brain works and steps to booster their brain power for memory retention.
With the success of this program, Tau Beta Pi at UCF is looking into offering a Leadership Workshop at the beginning of each semester to ensure the young leaders continue on their path of growth. DAO Consultants fully supports their efforts to foster young leaders in engineering.

OCPS Awards Rhodes&Brito/DAO team Aloma Elem.
DAO is proud to announce the Rhodes&Brito Architects design team has been award the comprehensive master planning of Aloma Elementary School in Winter Park, FL. Orange County Public Schools announced the winner in early January 2010. DAO is enthusiastic to be a apart of the energized winning team and look forward to making this a highly successful project for OCPS, Rhodes&Brito, and the students of Aloma Elementary School.

DAO Proud to be Member of CTHsu’s Winning Team
DAO Consultants, Inc. is proud to be a member of the CTHsu and Assoc. winning design team competing for the City of Orlando’s Continuing Architectural and Engineering Services contract. Final Board of Commissioners approve will come at the City’s public hearing on November 2, 2009. “We are excited to once again be working with the great team leaders at CTHsu,” Solange Dao, P.E. excitedly states. “Since working with CTHsu on the Orange Co. Convention Center’s West Entrance Upgrade and again on two Goodwill Industries innovative stand-alone store sites, we are grateful to continue the strong working bonds btween our two firms.”

City of Apopka to Approve Avion Point West Master Plan
The much anticipated western expansion of Avion Point, the commercial entrance way to the Apopka Aiport, will be put forward to the City Commissioners on Sept 2, 2009 for final approval. DAO is proud to have worked closely with City officials to make the project a gem of the community. The master site, utilities, and storm water plans were completed by DAO Consultants in less than 4 months. DAO’s staff was dedicated to complete the permitting of the 70-acres at this rapid pace in order for the site construction to commence. Avion Point West’s construction activities bring revenue to many ready-to-work local workers.
The 70-acre project will also bring new permanent jobs to the greater Apopka Area. Developer Jim Thompson continues to enhance the Apopka Airport and its surrounding area into a renown commercial and light industrial mecca. A speculated future tenant of 3 parcels in the Avion Point West light industrial park is a small aircraft manufacturer. With Avion Point West’s access to the Apopka Airport runway, the location is ideal for any aviation based industry.

DAO is proud to be the civil engineer for Mr. Derek Wallace’s estate project, The Grandeur. Mr. Wallace is the owner of Construct Two Group, a prominent general contractor firm in the City of Orlando. Ms. Solange Dao to address ASCE National Convention
Ms. Dao is honored to be a featured speaker at the 2009 American Society of Civil Engineers’ National Convention in Kansas City, MO. Her presentation will be focused on the idea of engineers “Obligation to Influence.” Ms. Dao thanks the event coordinator, Ms. Marie Maly, for alloting a 2-hr session for Ms. Dao to address this important topic on October 31.
